What’s New
iPhone Duo
Sofa is ready for the iPhone Duo. Unfold it and you get a two-column layout split at the fold, with your lists on one side and what you’re looking at on the other. Everything resizes cleanly as you open, close and rotate the phone, and nothing important lands on the crease. The podcast player splits across the fold too, and in laptop pose it puts the transcript on the upright half.
Podcast Player Redesign
The podcast player has a fresh new look. It morphs open from the mini player, takes its colors from the episode’s artwork, and keeps Up Next, Chapters and Notes right inside. Playback is smarter about what comes next, Voice Boost is improved, and feeds refresh and download overnight while charging.
Podcast Transcripts
Read along with your podcasts. If a show publishes a transcript, it’s right there in the player. If it doesn’t, Sofa can make one itself, entirely on your device: tap Generate, or let it quietly transcribe your downloaded episodes overnight while your phone charges. Either way, a live highlight follows along word by word as you listen, so you never lose your place.
Sessions (Super Sofa)
Ever wonder how long that book really took you, or how many hours you’ve sunk into a game? Now Sofa can tell you. Each time you log progress, add how long you spent and how far you got, in pages, chapters or whatever fits, and Sofa keeps a running total for every item. If you’d rather not estimate, start a timer when you sit down and stop it when you’re done. It stays in view across the app, on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so pausing for a snack is one tap.
Stats & Logbook (Super Sofa)
Your sessions now show up in Stats and the Logbook. Books, Games, Music and Custom Category Stats get a Sessions section with time spent, totals for each unit and a weekly chart, and Logbook rows show session totals at a glance.
Changes & Improvements
Shortcuts
- Get Items can now filter by Completed, and items include Completed and Date Completed for use in your own logic.
- New actions: Start Session, Stop Session, Pause Session, Resume Session, and Get Ingredient Value.
- Log Progress and Add Journal Entry take Duration and Amount.
- Items expose Properties, Current Value, Total, Checkpoint Type, Session Count and Total Session Time.
- Get Items no longer returns Quick Log entries, logbook stamps and episodes as duplicate items, and Category = Book now matches every book, not just manually added ones.
Everything Else
- Caught-up shows no longer appear in the Dusty section of the Enjoying tab.
- Improved multiple window support. Each window keeps its own place in your Lists and is titled after what it shows. Open a new one with ⌃⌘N.
- Drag items from a list onto another list in the sidebar to move them, one at a time or a whole selection. And if you drop them in the wrong place, moves can now be undone.
- Long-press (or right-click on Mac) a link on an item’s detail screen to copy it.
- Logbook: Date Only timestamps. A new Timestamps option in Settings → Logbook hides the time on Logbook entries and in the date pickers. Your times are still saved, so you can switch back whenever.
- Added a “To Watch” progress format for TV shows that counts only aired episodes, plus examples of every format in the TV Shows tracking settings.
- Video Game search improvements.
- Improved reliability when saving Ingredients from an item’s detail screen.
Bug Fixes
- The tab bar and mini player come back properly after leaving a podcast show page.
- Opening Settings on a phone no longer kills the list behind it.
- Bulk edit ends when you leave a bulk screen.
- Unified Search can’t slide sideways on the outer display.
- Stats bar chart labels (Top Categories, Tn) no longer land on the wrong bar on iOS 27.2.
- Crash when copying a deeplink for a TV episode.
- The Apple Music link on albums now opens the Music app instead of the iTunes Store.
- Duplicate TV episodes appearing after setting up a new device or returning to an old one. Existing duplicates are cleaned up automatically, with your watch history kept intact.
- Crash that could happen while Sofa was updating Spotlight search after episodes changed.
- Progress rings in lists not updating after marking episodes watched.
- Logbook settings saved on an older version could reset to defaults after updating.
- Upcoming plans no longer add future years to the Logbook.
- Episode reminders set to the air date now arrive at 9 AM on that day in every time zone. Previously they could fire at 1 AM in the UK during the summer, or the evening before in the Americas.
- Episode air dates no longer show a day early in some time zones on the episode detail screen, episode lists and the reminder sheet.
- The episode “Air Date” in Shortcuts now matches the date shown in the app.
- Fixed a crash when using “Complete & Log” or “Complete Without Logging” on a TV episode.
- Fixed “Episode Date Aired” ignoring episodes you hadn’t marked yet, which meant filters like “Next 30 Days” could never find an upcoming episode. Lists like “shows with new episodes coming up” now work.
- “Episode Duration” and “Episode Completion Status → Unwatched” had the same blind spot and are fixed too.
- Preset date options (Today, Last 7 Days, Next 30 Days, and so on) now show the dates they currently cover, like “Oct 8 – Nov 7, 2026 · Updates daily”, instead of a greyed-out date that looked fixed.
- “Episode Date Aired”, “First Air Date” and “Last Air Date” no longer run a day off depending on your time zone.
- The “Caught Up” filter now agrees with the caught-up badge everywhere else in the app.
- Fixed an “Audio Session Error” in the podcast player after returning to a paused episode.
- Fixed a misaligned search field and Done button when searching for cover images, and moved search to the bottom of the screen on iOS 26+.
- The Enjoying widget now shows the same items, in the same order, as the Enjoying tab. Previously it quietly put shows and movies ahead of everything else, so a book you’d just picked up might never appear.
